An act to amend Section 5003 of the Penal Code, relating to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

SB 628, as amended, Galgiani. Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation: prisons.

Existing law creates the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, which is headed by the Secretary of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, who is appointed by the Governor, subject to Senate confirmation, and serves at the pleasure of the Governor. Existing law provides the department with jurisdiction over prisons and institutions, as specified.

This bill would grant the department jurisdiction over the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility, the N.A. Chaderjian Youth Correctional Facility, the O.H. Close Youth Correctional Facility, and the Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp.

8(d) The California Institution for Women.

12(h) The California Men’s Colony.

13(i) The California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi.

14(j) The California Rehabilitation Center.

15(k) The California Correctional Center at Susanville.
