Existing law establishes various student financial aid programs under the administration of the Student Aid Commission, and establishes eligibility requirements for the recipients of awards under those programs by participating students attending qualifying institutions.
This bill would require the commission, by the 2017-18 academic year, to report to the Legislature and the Governor on specified measures to increase student participation in state and federal financial aid

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 69520 is added to the Education Code,
(a) The commission shall, by the 2017-18 academic
4year, report to the Legislature and the Governor on measures to
5increase student participation in state and federal student financial
7(b) Measures recommended pursuant to subdivision (a) shall
8include all of the following:
9(1) At least one measure to

23(c) (1) A report to be submitted pursuant to subdivision (a)
