   An act to add Section 712 to the Public Utilities Code, relating
to public utilities.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 888, as introduced, Dunn.  Public utilities: electrical
restructuring.
   Existing law authorizes the Public Utilities Commission to
supervise and regulate every public utility in the state, including
electrical corporations, subject to provisions restructuring the
electrical industry.
   This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature in
subsequent legislation, to repeal those provisions restructuring the
electrical industry.
   Vote:  majority.  Appropriation:  no.  Fiscal committee:  no.
State-mandated local program:  no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:


  SECTION 1.  Section 712 is added to the Public Utilities Code, to
read:
   712.  It is the intent of the Legislature, in subsequent
legislation, to repeal the provisions of Assembly Bill 1890 (Chapter
854, Statutes 1996).
