Fiscal Impact (in thousands) Major Provisions 2001-02 2002-03 2003-04 Fund Annual assessment $1,200 $400 $ 400 General CEC plan --- Probably minor costs --- General STAFF COMMENTS: This bill meets the criteria for referral to the Suspense File. SB 110 (Peace, Ch. 581, St. of 1999) eliminated the integrated assessment of need requirement. CEC staff indicate that preliminary cost estimates are $1 million one-time for data procurement, consulting, and computer modeling, and staff costs of about $400,000 ongoing to prepare the annual assessment. The costs for the renewable generation plan are probably minor. STAFF NOTES that the renewable generation plan is due "at the earliest possible time". The author and committee may wish to consider (1) specifying, "?but not later than December 31, 2002, or some other date, and (2) requiring that the plan and annual assessment be submitted to the Legislature and the Governor.
